So I bungy jumped 142 feet
I am thinking, what the HELL am I doing here?
When I was in New Zealand in August 2000, I Bungy jumped 43 meters from Kawarau Suspension Bridge. It took me six attempts, over ten minutes and lots of talking through from the people working there. I was determined to do it.

No, you don't feel anything when you get to the bottom and that big rubber band bounces you back up.

When you finish bouncing, you are hanging over the Shotover River. In the Summer, jumpers get to hang in the water.
But it was Winter so I didn't. The operator in the rubber raft comes out to you, You grab a long pole and pull yourself over and
into the boat. Then you wave HI to the camera. He dropped me off at the shore and I took the long walk up the stair to the top
of the canyon.
Here's a shot I took of the canyon. Factoid: It was this very canyon location that was used as the setting for the Argonath of the Anduin scene in the movie, The Lord Of The Rings:The Fellowship Of The Ring. |
