For Sale The Beacons Of Gondor Are Lit

Here I am in Hobbiton, at The Hill, third age of Middle Earth (as Gandalf was not around in the fourth age), riding in Gandalf's wood cart, a museum attendant next to me. Actually, it is August 4, 2004, and I am at the Boston Museum Of Science Lord Of The Rings exhibition. This is one of the interactive exhibits. On the top, I am on the right, sized as a giant wizard. Bottom, I am on the left, sized as a little hobbit. In realitiy, the halves of the cart were separated by several feet. The wizard side is a tiny half cart, the hobbit side is a huge cart half. I was told to look at the X on the spot on the wall or the side of the cart. When the digital camera put us together, it made us appear to be looking right at each other. The big wizard X was only two feet above the floor, on the side of the cart half facing me. The hobbit X was about seven feet above the floor, on the wall on the outside of the cart. Both halves of the cart were the same size. This is one way the forced perspective of sizing the characters was done in the films.
